Array Builder: Rows, Columns & Division

Division becomes much easier when you can see it! In this interactive game, your child will build rectangular arrays (rows and columns) to solve division problems. This visual approach helps students understand exactly what division means.

How it works:

• Read the division problem (e.g., “Show 12 ÷ 3”)
• Click on the grid to build the correct number of rows and columns
• Check your answer: the array turns green if correct, or shows the right answer if you need a hint!

Why arrays work for division:

When a child builds an array for 12 ÷ 3, they create 3 rows. By counting the columns, they instantly see that there are 4 items in each row. This visually proves that 12 ÷ 3 = 4, and connects division directly to multiplication (3 × 4 = 12)!

💡 Teacher Tip: This game perfectly aligns with Common Core Standard 3.OA.A.2 (interpreting whole-number quotients) and 3.OA.B.4 (determining the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation).
