Counting to 20 with Double Ten Frames

Grades: Grade-1 Type: Interactive Levels: 3

Help your first graders master teen numbers (11-20) with this interactive double ten frames activity. Students see two connected ten frames filled with colorful counters and identify the total number.

Double ten frames (two frames placed side by side) are the standard visual tool for teaching numbers 11-20 in U.S. classrooms. The first frame always shows 10 dots (a full set), while the second frame shows the additional ones. This structure directly supports Common Core Standard 1.NBT.B.2: “Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand that 11-19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
